S.H. Figuarts Cartoon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Officially Revealed

Feb. 9th 2016

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures have been synonymous with Playmates Toys since the brand's inception, and even though everyone loves the old stuff, Playmates hasn't kept up with collectors particularly well in recent years. They botched the promising Classics line, and the cartoon-styled Turtles have desperately needed a new high-end take for a long time. The S.H. Figuarts Turtles teased a few months ago were a great start, and it's finally official, Bandai will be releasing the figures in North America this year!

Take a look at the first official images of these absolutely stunning toys.

I've finally died and gone to turtle heaven! If this line takes off and we start getting villains and sidekicks in the cartoon style, I will probably retire from toy collecting, because all my dreams will finally have come true!

Leonardo and Donatello are coming out first, hitting later this summer at a price of $62.99 each. Given the general quality of S.H. Figuarts, the dimensions and complexity of these figures, and the sheer enormity of the license, that's an absolute steal in my mind. Here are a couple shots of the blue and purple brothers in action.

I don't think that last pose is going to be possible without a little outside assistance, but it shows just how fantastically these figures are designed. Even when put into ridiculous poses, they still look perfect!

You may not hear from me for a while. I think I'm going to lock myself into a padded room just to make sure I survive until these figures come out. I can't risk an untimely bus running me over and missing out on these beauties! Come to think of it, I need to survive until Episode VIII anyway, so that's a solid life strategy at this point!
