The Top 7 Video Games That Need Action Figures

Sept. 15th 2016

Video game action figures are all the rage these days, but somehow a handful of major game franchises still don't have figures! I've identified the seven biggest offenders, and it's finally time for someone to start creating their characters in plastic!

Grand Theft Auto

This is one of the most well-known video game series of all time with loads of iconic characters in its story mode, but it's really lacking when it comes to figures. The potential for limitless accessories, in-jokes, and playsets could make it insanely fun to collect.

Overwatch

This game just game out, but it has some of the most creative and stunning character designs ever seen on a screen. They desperately need to be converted to plastic as soon as possible, because fans are already falling in love with this new property and need ways to express that joy!

Call of Duty

Call of Duty figures have been put out from time to time, but they've never been up to the quality and popularity of the games themselves. This series is practically begging for a modern G.I. Joe equivalent! Its lack of iconic characters might hurt a little, but between each game's protagonists, a solid line of figures could be assembled, and the audience is definitely there to support it.

Elder Scrolls

The Elder Scrolls series features so many cool armor designs and creative villains that would look incredible as action figures. No matter which game they come from, there would be some amazing figures. One game in the series got a couple figures, but it wasn't nearly enough to satisfy the legion of Elder Scrolls fans out there.

World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft has certainly gotten figures in its 10+ year run, but none that were highly articulated and up to modern standards. This game deserves so much more, including things like removable and customizable armor and weapons! Heroes of the Storm figures from NECA are the closest thing to a dedicated World of Warcraft line, but there's so much more it could accomplish with its own dedicated approach.

Half Life

Fans might be waiting forever for the next edition of Half Life to be released, but they shouldn't have to wait that long for some great action figures to come out based on this iconic franchise. Valve is notoriously stingy about action figures (remaining Team Fortress 2 figures are still up in the air), so who knows if this will ever happen.

Skylanders

Skylanders are certainly popular in stores and toy aisles, but the Skylanders "toys" that people know and love aren't actually action figures. They are just figurines, and that's not good enough! Articulated and playable figures would be even more amazing!

Oh man, I have a whole wish list of figures I'd love to see from WoW... And yes, the ones that are out there now are more INaction figures than anything else. Pretty, but not poseable at all; they're affordable plastic statuettes. :/ I'd rather have an actual ACTION figure, since that's allegedly what they're selling me.

Have you seen the Heroes of the Storm figures from NECA? Series 1 included Arthas, Illidan, and Stitches, so it's kinda-sorta like a WoW line. Series 2 is going to have Thrall and Sylvanas as well, which will be 4 major characters, and hopefully the line keeps going after that!

They're real figures too, so it's the closest thing we may be getting for a while!
