The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are getting a lot of love in the 1:6 scale these days. Between Mondo and ThreeZero, anyone looking for a set of really big turtles is going to have some nice options. The latest take on the heroes in the halfshell comes from ThreeZero, and features brand new designs created in collaboration with original Turtles' creator Kevin Eastman.
In the most recent issues of Clutter magazine, these new designs were revealed. They look like a nifty mix of classic turtle design and the more "mutant" look of the new movies.
I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to anthropomorphic ninja reptiles, so I'd much rather collect the Mondo line of 1:6 figures than this particular line. That said, I can see the appeal here, as these have a gritty and dark tone that does give the franchise a layer of depth that classic comic readers would certainly appreciate.
There's no word on the release date for these fellows, but you know they're going to be amazing and expensive since ThreeZero is at the helm. I can't wait to see more pictures and get a look at the accessories and accoutrements. Who knows, I might even take the dive on Donatello!
